April 17, 2004Enabling SMTP Authentication: Step by SteprjsNetworks mail servers have migrated to using SMTP authentication. Please update your mail clients to enable SMTP Authentication. Here are some screenshots for Microsoft Outlook 2003 (very similar to 2000). Go to: Tools --> Email Accounts --> Click on your email account and "Change" (or properties) ![]() ![]() If you do not make this change, you may be receiving undeliverable emails, Please make this change ASAP. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me rishi@rjsnetworks.com or email support@rjsnetworks.com Rishi April 14, 2004Another Descriptive Patch From MicrosoftOk; so here is another set of patches from Microsoft. Not to be critical; but Microsoft being the largest vendor of softwre worldwide can at least give better descriptions of patches than: 'to prevent an unauthorized person from being able to install new programs or to view, change or delete data on someone else's computer' The same description for patches has been used for at least a year now; making it very difficult for developers, IT staff, and hosting companies to validate and test their implementations. It is becoming a nightmare to test and patch windows machines without any regression testing or descriptions of patch updates. April 01, 2004Google EmailGoogle has announced a new service called Google Email. Initial rumors have confirmed that the email storage place is going to be at least 1 gig. Obviously advertising will be part of the web mail user interface; however, I am not sure if Google will scan and search your email with keywords from your email. It is an interesting and powerful concept that will definetly get Hotmail and Yahoo spinning for new window dressings to keep their service competitive. But do you want your emails scanned? Would you want to answer your phone where your caller id would scroll advertisements depending on what you said? Then again, it is google, and when you have that kind of market share....who cares what you think right? |
