August 14, 2003Internet Explorer Status Bar in Win XPFor more information and other tips/tricks Everytime I open up IE in XP, my status bar is hidden and not show. Other than being irritating, it has become a habit for me to click View > Status Bar everytime I browse the web. After a bit of research, fix this problem by following the below steps. Please note, you will be adjusting your registry values, we recommend you make a backup of your registry and assume no resposibility for the below instructions (they have worked for us everytime however!) Now press Ctrl while clicking the X in the upper-right-hand corner of the window to close the application. Next, open My Computer and select View | Status Bar Finally, go to Tools | Folder Options and select the View tab. Click Apply to all folders, confirm the dialog, and then close Windows Explorer. NOW ...... start regedit (Start > Run > regedit ) Go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main Select "Show_StatusBar" Go to 'Permissions...' from Edit menu Click 'Advanced' find your user name in the list & click 'edit' button put a check next to 'Set value' under 'Deny' Thanks to everyone below for the comments; keep them coming :) Posted by jagga at August 14, 2003 11:03 PM | TrackBackComments

Posted by: Corey Gwin at October 13, 2003 02:25 AMVery useful post, but I can't help but wonder why Microsoft deliberately makes it so hard for novice users to see what Internet Explorer is doing..
